Another good day so far today. OB was in today for his usual daily scan and the babies are looking good. My cervix is unchanged so that is great too. I'm disappointed that I did not see the perinatologist yesterday though ~ I thought they were going to be monitoring me twice a week but I haven't seen them since last Friday. They are super busy in their office so I'm sure they just haven't had the time to get over here. Hopefully I'll see them tomorrow for sure.
My OB is leaving for vacation for 10 days tomorrow so one of his partners will be taking over my care for that time. Not worried though - his partner has been checking in on me regularly as well and is very familiar with all that we have going on. He came in this morning with Dr. H to get the latest low down and see the sonogram so he knows what is "normal" right now etc. I made Dr. H a deal that I would still be here when he returns on the 27th so I hope I can come through! That puts me at 28 weeks which is our next milestone. We can do it!
It never ceases to amaze me how small the world is. One of my friends emailed me the other day and was talking to another friend of hers. It happens that her friends sister in law is right next door to me. So, we've hooked up by email. It's nice to keep in touch with someone who is in my same boat. We're about 4 days apart with our due dates and both of us have been on bedrest for many weeks. We have different issues but nonetheless, it's kind of fun to have an email buddy. Even if it's just to say hello each day.
Might be able to take a short wheelchair ride today if time allows the nurses to take me out. Or maybe Mom can take me. We'll see. Still a bit nervous about that but with the weather so nice, feel like I should take advantage of the opportunity.
I had a surprise visitor two days ago that was really pretty awesome. The morning before I was admitted to the hospital at 19 weeks, I had an appointment with a potential pediatrician for the kids. I met with three different ped's, trying to decide who to use. Well, I decided on one but had not notified the doctor yet that we had selected him. I gave his office a call on Monday to let him know, and also told his receptionist I was already in the hospital as well as the situation with Baby A. I didn't want the doc to be confused when he got the phone call that the babies had arrived. The doctor called me back that evening and was incredibly supportive and talked to me for a bit about what has been going on. He asked lots of questions and took time to learn about my situation with the triplets. On Tuesday, there was a knock at my door and low and behold, it was Dr. G. He was doing rounds up here and popped his head in to say hello. He stayed for a few minutes and talked to me about the babies, getting more information; and then gave me a little pep talk about being on bedrest etc. Needless to say, I'm very happy with my choice in pediatricians. I had a good feeling when I was in his office that we belonged there - I think I definitely made the right choice! Very reassuring.
Can't believe school is starting in the next week or two. Remembering back to how much fun the first day of school was is fun - and by this time, we were all at daily practice for our respective sports - August 15 was the magic day. The summer seems to be coming to a quick close - the start of school is always such an annual end of summer marker, as Labor Day rolls in and the pools close for the season. It's kind of odd watching the season change from my hospital window. It gets dark earlier now and the sun positioning has changed, just since I've been here the last 4 weeks. It's an odd feeling not knowing when I will be going home - obviously the longer I can stay, the better for the babies. But the unknown is an odd existence. Looking back it's hard to believe I've been here almost 4 weeks already. Some days go fast, some days go a little slower. But overall, the time has passed pretty fast. Let's hope it continues to be the same, or even faster in the coming weeks. I'm getting anxious to meet these little guys!

Hi Kate,
I look forward to your blog everyday and love hearing good, boring news :) as you have said boring news is good news!!! The drs here in PA are great, but I do miss the great care of Anne Arundel...it really is a top notch place. I was so happy to hear about the NICU nurse coming and sitting with you. I had some of my fav nurses from the NICU. We'll have to compare later. Thinking of you often and praying for you and the guys!
