We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with our families - we saw all of the local Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Grandparents and friends. Who could ask for anything more. Turkey Day was a busy day, fun filled for the kids for sure. Needless to say, they hit the bed without a peep when all was said and done. I so remember fun holidays with our cousins and just running and playing for hours - they all did just that and crashed hard at the end. Good times.
On Friday we ventured to Homestead Gardens to see the awesome trains set up for Christmas. The kids were not nearly as enthused as we hoped - but for a good 5 minutes or so, they were entertained. Then it was on to the next thing. The llama's are always a big hit there too. I got a good bit of the Christmas decorations out Friday afternoon - the tree is up with lights but not yet decorated. I'm letting the "novelty" wear off before I put all of the decorations on it - hoping for a little less interest this year than last.
Our little elf friends arrived on Thursday evening...Pucki and Gucki are standing tall on the mantle and keeping watch over our little monkeys. I don't we have the full effect this year yet - the concept is a bit old for JD & Cole now - but next year, it's going to work GREAT to keep them in check.
Saturday morning we left early to go to the nursing home for Pops's 93rd birthday party. Sadly, I'm not sure how much of it he understood but he had 3 of his 4 grandchildren there and 5 of his 7 great grandchildren - not bad for an impromptu party! He continues to amaze us with his strength after being so sick. We all should be so lucky to inherit his longevity genes. He enjoyed some cake and ice cream with everyone and tired easily.
Saturday evening was really fun when we took the kids to a North Pole lights walk at Willow Oak Herb Farm. We did this fun Christmas event last year but obviously the kids were a bit too young to understand. They totally got it this year! They loved it! They both enjoyed running after the big kids and trying to keep up. And they loved all of the lights, music and animation.
It started with a little tale from the farm owner, complete with magic fairy dust to make the 3,000 mile walk a bit easier to the North Pole. She reminded us of the rules and sent us on our way to follow the lights. The story was sort of like a polar express story, and after about 6-8 stops along the way, we made it to the North Pole. For anyone local to the MD area, I highly recommend this fun family adventure!

The North Pole walk gang!

Sunday was a great football day - complete with freezing cold weather and lots of rain. After morning donuts with Grampy & cousin Emily, we hunkered down for the day and spent some good quality family time together. Mommy packed up the goodies for the BIG DAY on Monday...
