It's official...

We're in to the swing of our new schedule this week. The boys had their first FULL day at school today. All went well - aside from poor little Cole crying for most of the morning after I left. He had a hard time early in the day but once he ate a snack and played outside, he seemed to push through his sadness.

JD did great - he didn't miss a beat. Although he started to lose it first when I was taking off their coats. I turned to leave quickly once I realized that they both were falling apart - probably the best thing I could have done (thanks to the veteran moms out there that told me this in advance). But walking down the hall, away from your screaming kids is no fun. I surprised myself as I left the building - no tears! It was also my first day back to working a full day, as opposed to a partial day and it was great.

Hopefully this new schedule will prove to be great for all of us - it's just going to take some time to get used to I guess. Now I have 2 full days off again - and then back to the work/school routine on Thurs & Friday. Hoping that the 2 day hiatus won't prove to be a set back - am a bit worried that Thursday might be like today since they aren't going 2 days in a row until the end of the week. Time will tell.

For now, I'm mentally exhausted and ready to hang it up for the night!

I hear you on the separation anxiety when you drop them off at school! It breaks my heart when Wesley cries when I leave. I said something to another mother about the situation and she said it is more heartbreaking when you leave and they just say "Bye Mom!" We'll see!
