While at the playground yesterday, JD found a razor scooter that was left there by another kid. I saw it at the same time he did and couldn't get there fast enough before he picked it up. His eyes lit up like saucers when he found it. He knew exactly what it was since he watched in awe last weekend as he saw his big cousins race around on theirs. I let him play with it for a bit and he actually was able to get on it and try to make it go. As you can imagine with any 2 year old, it was way too big for him and the coordination it takes to ride one is not even close to being there for him. Sadly, he got extremely frustrated immediately as he continued to fall off of it.
I felt so badly watching his frustration - he reduced to screaming tears every time. He would get mad at the scooter and throw it on the ground when it wouldn't work for him. As you can imagine, he was bound and determined to make it work and wouldn't even allow me to try to help. He ended up settling for holding it up and walking next to it eventually; but boy, he was so frustrated by the time we left. You can see his tears and frustration in the pictures, poor little guy.

It's apparent that he's inherited MY lack of patience...funny how you see your own traits shine through at such an early age! Looks like helmets are going to be on the christmas list this year - the scooter is in our not too distant future. Next time I'll have to scope out the leftover toys at the playground before we jump out of the car!

they make three wheeled scooters for the little guys - two wheels in the front one in the back. f. got the huffy one for his 3rd bday i think and still uses it. although we are upgrading this year to a two wheel one.
