6 months and growing strong! We couldn't be more proud of the boys for how far they have come. They are like real babies now...
Cole weighed in at 12lb, 15 oz (we were hoping he would break 13 lbs, little chunker) and 23" long. His weight has outgrown his height for now so we're going to start stretching him every morning. He's on a great growth curve but still below the "normal" curve for regular six month olds. But he's getting closer every day.
JD weighed in at a svelte 15lb, 6 oz and 24.5" long. He's in the 10th percentile for weight and the 3rd percentile for height. Not bad for a couple of two pound 28 weekers! I was surprised to learn that they plot preemies on the same growth curve as regular babies so that they can determine how well they are catching up with the normal kids. The pediatrician was very happy.
We are going to start feeding them some food this week - can't wait for that! Rice cereal for a couple of weeks and then we'll give them some fruit. They are coming off of the high calorie formula now and will be on regular formula (my wallet is thanking me for that!). We can actually buy formula in bulk now since it's not the special formula we've been buying.
Their personalities are becoming more evident each day. Cole is the silent observer and such a strong willed little boy. He's a flirt with everyone and has a smile that melts anyone's heart. He might be small right now but he's sure mighty! He's very laid back and loves to take it all in. He's got me wrapped around his finger, that is for sure.
JD is such a love - and is ALWAYS smiling! He's got the biggest smile and such a cool demeanor about him. He's starting to chatter a lot now and seems to discover new noises every other minute. He's a big boy and so strong. His expressions are a riot - he's always making us laugh.
Our next appointment isn't for another three months - it's pretty amazing that the next time we get new stats (and shots) they will be almost a year old. WOW. I feel like such a proud Mommy today ~ they have done so well and proud is an understatement!
